Now don’t get me wrong: I love Starbucks and I go often when out shopping in the mall. But, when home, that’s a different story. My husband used to think I was nuts wanting to run out for my favorite Starbucks beverage, hot or chilled. It didn’t matter the weather, either. It could be a Sunday night right before they closed, but if I was craving one, I was out the door. It got ridiculous. I was spending way too much money and time back and forth for a craving.
That’s when I started to make these wonderful beverages at home. I have shared a bunch right here on Parade over the years (scroll down for links) and that brings me back to this easy-to-recreate Starbucks Coconut Milk Latte recipe. It’s made with only three ingredients that could cost over $4 for a small or as they call it a “grande.” Have a look and see how easy and simple it is to make right at home in less than five minutes.

Just a note, Starbucks uses a sugar called cascara/ It’s a rare sugar that’s actually from a coffee bean. It’s hard to find anywhere, so after tasting theirs, I found coconut or turbinado/demerara sugar tastes very similar and is the perfect substitute. After you make this, sit down, relax and enjoy every last warm sip.
Here are the links to the other delish copycat Starbucks beverages I mentioned above:
Brew a cup of coffee or espresso. While that’s going, steam the coconut milk simple by placing into a glass jar or mason jar. Put the lid on and shake for about 30 seconds.
Take the lid off, this is very important! Place open jar into the microwave and set to 20 seconds. Take out, if needed to put back in another 10 seconds then do so.
It may be easier to pour the coconut milk into a small measuring cup with a spout. Grab your coffee, add one teaspoon of the sugar into the cup and mix well. (you can leave out too) Now,pour the steamed milk right over the coffee. Don’t stir. It should sit right on top. Take the remaining sugar and spoon right over the frothed milk. (As seen in photo above). That’s it! Easy-peasy, delish!
Makes 1 large mug. Yields: 1 grande
