Café van Gogh, Brixton’s wonderful not for profit Vegan Café & Restaurant and community interest organisation, is welcoming summer 2021 with a new menu, a new vegan breakfast offer and a free drink for mid-week diners.
This popular vegan South London eatery, located within the grounds of Christ Church on Brixton Road (a short walk to Oval Station), have created an exciting and delicious summer menu with some old faves sneaking back due to popular demand.
They told Brixton Buzz:
CVG is much more than just a café. Over 6 years the team have fostered a unique space that see’s Londoners from all corners book to devour their exceptional Gochujang-glazed Tofu Banh Mi, Miso Aubergine Tacos, and killer Sunday Roast.
The 100% non-profit café work in the community training local people with visible and non-visible disabilities. Their social mission is to train adults and young people with a learning disability to gain skills for employment such as barista training, customer service, food prep and kitchen porterage.
Head Chef and co-owner, Bonita De Silva, has crafted an impressive and delicious new menu to celebrate seasonal produce, including Spiced Mince-stuffed Aubergines, southern-inspired Crispy Buttermilk ‘Chicken’ and a vibrant Courgette, Broad Bean and Mint Salad to bring in the sunshine.
She has also created a delicious and simple brunch offer from 9am on weekdays, including pastries from The Old Post Office Bakery who also work with Toucan Employment to support people with learning difficulties in the work environment.
This new menu is a celebration of seasonal produce, showcasing the abundance of delicious veg, pulses and herbs that are available at this time of year. I hope that it’s a struggle to choose what to have with each dish sounding as mouth-watering as the next!
As part of their day-to-day community give back are asking their customers who can to ‘Pay it Forward’ for those in our community who might need a coffee or tea.
