An award-winning specialty food and home goods producer which got its start at the Portsmouth Farmers’ Market is celebrating 30 years in business.

A photo of Stonewall Kitchen employees was posted on social media last week with a message saying, “Here’s to 30 sweet years!”

The photo and message received 563 reactions and 45 comments by 6 p.m. on Monday.

Leaders at the Greater Dover Chamber of Commerce shared the message and wrote, “Congrats on thirty years, Stonewall Kitchen! Here’s to many more!”

According to the company’s story posted online, Jim Stott and Jonathan King originally set up shop in the Stott family summer cottage. Pearl, Stott’s 90-year-old grandmother, helped to glue burlap onto jar lids.

In 2000, the company moved to York, Maine and since then it has grown into one of Maine’s largest travel destinations. According to their website, they welcome over 500,000 visitors each year.

Stonewall Kitchen has grown from producing a few dozen jars of jams and jellies for the farmers’ market to making 75,000 jars daily.

The last few years has seen an explosion as the company takes on new markets.

In 2018, they welcomed Tillen Farms, Montebello and Napa Valley Naturals to the Stonewall Kitchen family and they launched a co-branded line with Legal Sea Foods.

In 2019, they welcomed Vermont Village to the Stonewall Kitchen family.

Last year, they welcomed Village Candle to the family and introduced Stonewall Home.

Urban Accents and Vermont Coffee Company came on board this year.

On their YouTube channel, people can find out how to make their 30th Anniversary Sparkling Blueberry Royale.

The recipe calls for 1.5 ounces of gin, one ounce of lemon juice, two tablespoons of Wild Maine Blueberry Jam and ice.

The mixture is shaken hard to chill and combine the flavors, then strained into a champagne flute and topped with champagne.

Garnish the drink with fresh blueberries and lemon.
