GOSHEN, Ind. (WNDU) – A local coffee shop in Goshen celebrated a successful fundraising campaign to bring humanitarian aid to people in Ukraine.
The Electric Brew raised more than $13,000 dollars through sales of their specialty Kyiv Cake Frappe and Latte.
The drinks include hazelnut and chocolate flavors, and they were topped with blue whipped cream and yellow sprinkles reflecting the colors of the Ukrainian flag.
The funds are being used to scale up existing programs in Ukraine that support vulnerable people and extend a hand to those displaced.
“On the first day, I had people just reach out to me, Ukrainians reach out and say thank you so much for doing this, and obviously we are not going to solve the world’s problems by doing this,” said Myron Bontrager, owner of The Electric Brew Owner. “It’s a little bit of something we can have and the gesture was just huge and just had a lot of people say thanks for doing this, thanks for at least making an effort to raise some money for this kind of humanitarian aid, so there was a lot of gratitude.”
The Electric Brew will continue to accept donations towards relief in Ukraine.
