A Jacksonville specialty coffee company has launched a unique line of baking ingredients in time for the holidays and prime baking season.
Civilized Coffee now offers a growing assortment of sugars, spices and cacao from around the world. The selection includes non-GMO and gluten-free products, such as crystallized ginger slices, espresso chili rub — barbecue and steak seasoning — cacao nibs, honey crystals, cocoa powder, espresso powder, panela and instant coffee granules.
“There is nothing more civilized than friends and family spending time together in the kitchen drinking coffee, or baking their favorite desserts, so these new products create an even closer connection for our products with those special moments,” company co-founder Mark Patterson said in a news release.
Patterson and co-founder Jeff Norton expanded the successful coffee business by going directly to their customers. They discovered that their Instant coffee and espresso powder were “a huge hit” among baking enthusiasts.
Their customers were creating desserts, while bloggers and others were praising their coffees on social mediate, they said.
Stacie Zollars, a blogger and founded of SugarFace Bakes, which specializes in sugar-free and other healthy desserts and savory dishes, lauded Civilized Coffee ingredients as a necessity.
“A necessity for bakers, cooks, or anyone looking to add flavor using quality ingredients. The only brand I trust to help me create THE most loved goodies!” Zollars said in the news release.
Norton said as an e-commerce company Civilized Coffee is “able to act quickly, create and add new products.”
“We are always listening to our customers, paying attention to trends and talking to suppliers to open up new opportunities for innovation,” Norton said.
Patterson and Norton founded the coffee company — which also offers CBD coffees — in 2017. The company’s mission, they said, “is to help bring civilized conversations” back, whether it is over a cup of coffee or baking in the kitchen.
They said the company works directly with sustainable farmers via relationships with the individual producers and coffee co-ops throughout the East African region.
