From the artist:
My name is Tracey Diamond, and for a long time, when my kids were young, I would tell people I was a stay-at-home mom by day and night, writer and artist by night. In time, a handful of years later, I began to blend my artsy world into building my own business as a graphic designer in Montclair (Tracey Diamond Designs) where I still focus on the visual but now in regards to graphic communications and branding.
When I was growing up, I used to doodle on everything. My brown bag wrapped school books were always covered with drawings. It was an escape to me. Eventually, I began to paint and started realizing that I look at the world in shapes, colors, and textures…. and a new style for me emerged. My pieces began to sell in shows, galleries, from private asking, along with being commissioned to paint murals on walls and furniture. One of my most memorable times was as a set designer for small theater productions where I was allowed to take home pieces of the set at the close of the shows.
My hope as an artist is to inspire others to look at the world around us with a new set of eyes and see our everyday surroundings in ways that we never imagined before and get lost in the magic for a little while. Some more recent places my work has been on display are during both of the popular Downtown Cedar Grove Art Walk events, a solo showing at Local Coffee Montclair (October 2019) and as illustrations in the book Hippie Chick by Jay Blakesberg.
I’m so excited to pull out my art box again for this show at Cedar Beans! For this selection of work on display, I am sharing a blend of my nature-inspired images as well as some free form flowing combinations of shapes and color. Many of the pieces you are inspired by hikes and others by lyrics of songs that held my attention and brought an idea to mind instantly. I hope you enjoy them as much as I have in creating them.
