One dead, three injured in weekend shootings

NEW HAVEN — One person was killed and three others were injured in a series of shootings Saturday night into Sunday, police said.

Officers were sent to Burton Street near Lamberton and Rosette streets aroung 10:45 p.m. Saturday after a ShotSpotter alert and subsequent 911 calls about two people being shot, police said.

Officers located two 28-year-old New Haven men suffering from gunshot wounds. American Medical Response transported both men to Yale New Haven Hospital to treat non-life-threatening injuries. They were were in stable condition as of Sunday Afternoon.


Around 1 a.m. Sunday, police said they received multiple 911 calls of a person being shot on South Genesee Street near the intersection of Harper Avenue. Officers located an 18-year-old New Haven man suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. American Medical Response transported the victim to Yale New Haven Hospital, where he was treated for non-life-threatening injuries and remains in stable condition.

Three hours later, police received a 911 call about gunshots in the 100 block of Springside Avenue. Officers located a 37-year-old New Haven man who had been fatally shot. American Medical Response and New Haven Fire Department crews arrived on scene, and pronounced the victim dead.
