PepsiCo is to release two new iced coffee RTDs in partnership with Italian coffee company Luigi Lavazza.
Lavazza Vanilla Latte and Cold Brew will both roll out in the UK from next week. The products follow last year’s launch in the country of Lavazza Iced Cappuccino and the release in May this year of Lavazza Double Espresso & Milk.
A PepsiCo spokesperson told just-drinks the UK is the debut market for the new releases. Launches in Germany, France and Poland will follow this year.
Last year, PepsiCo announced it had started a “collaborative partnership” with Luigi Lavazza that will target the “growing premium coffee space”. The partnership follows The Coca-Cola Co’s purchase of the Costa Coffee chain of coffee shops and products at the start of last year.
Commenting on the new launches, PepsiCo said although the more indulgent RTD coffee flavours continue to lead the UK market, the new trend for cold brew coffee is driving the growth in black coffee flavours.
“We recognise that consumers are keen to enjoy the flavours from their favourite coffee shops in a more convenient, ready-to-drink format,” said PepsiCo senior marketing director Cathy Graham. “With the launch of Lavazza Vanilla Latte and Lavazza Cold Brew, we hope to tap into this huge market, by combining premium Italian roast coffee and the segment’s fastest-growing flavours.”
