Heading into the fall season, there are a number of holidays, events and celebrations to look forward to. There are county fairs, apple and pumpkin celebrations and cornfield mazes. I’m looking forward to National Coffee Day, celebrated every year on September 29th.
I am one of the over 60% of Americans who drink coffee each day. Research shows us that per capita consumption is at nearly three cups per day.
Experts tell us there are so many potential health benefits from drinking a moderate amount of coffee. Some of them include the possibility of lowering the risk of Type 2 diabetes. It can possibly protect your liver and lower the risk of cancer. Coffee may even help you live longer and healthier!
Of course, to enjoy coffee to it’s fullest, you want to make a good cup. Some tips include storing your beans correctly. The National Coffee Association recommends storing coffee in an opaque, air-tight container. Be sure your equipment is cleaned thoroughly and often. The quality of the water makes a big difference, too. America’s favorite coffee is medium roast.
To make National Coffee Day even more special, I’ll mark the day with a third cup paired with a good book!
If that sounds like a good idea, you might want to check out some coffee related titles from the library catalog. If fiction perks you up, the following are just a taste of what’s available.
If your preference is to learn to make a better cup of coffee or possibly enhance your health with coffee in your diet, check out these titles
