Teen Chopped – 3 p.m. Tuesday. The popular program returns to the Main Auditorium, where teen chefs will be divided into teams of three, and just like in the television show “Chopped,” they will create three courses – appetizer, main course, and dessert – from ingredient baskets. Teens will have full use of the Rodman Chopped Pantry filled with spices and other essentials to complete their dish. A panel of three then will judge the round. The event, which is supported by Friends of Rodman Public Library and a grant from Walmart, is limited to 18 participants, and registration is required. UMU “A Christmas Carol” Preview – 10:30 a.m. Nov. 13. The University of Mount Union’s Department of Performing Arts will bring selected scenes and songs from its production of Charles Dickens’ “A Christmas Carol” to the Main Auditorium. The event will give library patrons a chance to preview the adaption of the holiday classic, which is written and directed by by Kevin P. Kern, associate professor of theatre at Mount Union. During the Rodman Library preview, there will be a raffle for two free tickets to the full production, which will be staged Nov. 18-21 on the Mount Union campus. Holiday Candy Making – 2 p.m. Nov. 13. Sara Bir, a chef, writer and editor with the recipe website Simply Recipes, will visit the Main Library Auditorium to demonstrate how to make some easy candies for Thanksgiving and Christmas. Bir, who has authored three cookbooks, including “Tasting Ohio,” will provide recipes and show how to make peanut butter buckeyes, Christmas cracker candy and caramel corn. Books & Coffee Book Club – 6:30 p.m. Monday. The Books and Coffee Book Club meets every second Monday of the month at the Rodman Branch Library. Family Fun Night – 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Main Library. Parents and caregivers are invited to participate in an entertaining evening with their children in Rodman Main Children’s Department. For children ages 3 to 5, Storytime will offer music, interaction and stories. During this same time, all school-aged children will share in their own fun activities that are based on the STEAM (Science-Technology-Engineering-Arts-Math) program. Evening Storytime sessions are held each Tuesday as part of Family Fun Nights at the Main Library.
