- Where To Get Coffee Beans
Cooking is an important part of Stardew Valley; with a wide variety of dishes and drinks, you can restore energy and health while applying a helpful buff. One of the drinks you will come across is coffee. Coffee can be a bit difficult to find at first, but we are here to help.
In this guide, we are going to go over how to get a cup of coffee. There are two main ways to do this; using a coffee maker or a keg. First, let’s take a look at how to obtain coffee beans so you can get starting on making your first cup of coffee.
Where To Get Coffee Beans
To make your own coffee, you will need coffee beans. Unlike other plantable crops, coffee beans are a seed. This means that to grow coffee beans, you just need to plant another coffee bean.
Coffee beans will take ten days to fully grow, and can be grown outside during Spring and Summer. If you have the greenhouse on your farm or a plant pot indoors, you will be able to grow coffee beans all year long. A coffee bean plant will continue to regrow and produce more beans every two days.
There are two ways to obtain coffee beans, which you can find below.
The Traveling Merchant is a vendor that comes to the Cindersap Forest every Friday and Sunday, hanging around in the north-most portion of the area. The merchant will have a wide variety of standard stock and specialty stock. There will always be ten standard stock items, and they will have a chance to sell one special stock item.
Coffee beans can be in either of these stock options. This bean will have a 1.26 percent chance to appear in the standard stock for between 100 to 1,000g, and a 25 percent chance to appear in the special stock for 2,500g.

Dust sprites will have a one percent chance to drop a coffee bean. This isn’t too high of a chance, but oftentimes, you can find several dust sprites in a group together.
To find dust sprites, head to floors 40 to 79 in the Mines.
Brewing Coffee In Kegs
Placing five coffee beans in a keg will produce one cup of coffee. The keg will take around two in-game hours to produce the coffee.
The coffee beans that you place in the keg need to be of the same quality. This is because the keg will only accept items that are stacked together.
After you have your coffee, you can gift it to villagers, such as Harvey, who loves ity, or drink it for yourself. One cup of coffee will provide the following buffs and recovery.
- +1 Speed
- +3 Energy
- +1 Health
Using A Coffee Maker
After completing the Gifts for George special order, you will receive your own coffee maker. This Special Order is given by Evelyn, and can be accepted from the Special Order board directly in front of the Mayor’s house.
For this quest, you will need to collect and place 12 leeks on Evelyn’s stove in her house. Doing so will trigger a cutscene, as well as reward you with 2,000g and the coffee maker.
The coffee maker will produce one cup of coffee a day. You do not need to place any coffee beans in it, making this a great way to get free coffee.
You will be able to purchase an unlimited number of cups of coffee every day from the Stardrop Saloon, located in the center of town. Buying coffee will only cost you 300g.
You can also get one free cup of coffee each night at the Night Market, which takes place every year from Winter 15 to 17. The Desert Trader will have a small area set up on the lefthand side of the docks, near the deep sea fishing submarine. If you visit every day, you will be able to get a total of three cups of coffee for free.
Crafting With Coffee
Let’s take a quick look at the one recipe that you can create with coffee.
By combining three cups of coffee in your kitchen, you can make a triple shot espresso. The recipe for the triple shot espresso can be purchased from the Stardrop Saloon and provides the following buffs and stats.
- +1 Speed
- +8 Energy
- +3 Health
Lastly, by combining one cup of coffee and one piece of cloth in a sewing machine, you can create the Pour-Over Shirt. This is a simple t-shirt that is the color of coffee. The sewing machine is located inside Emily and Haley’s house.
That’s all there is to know about coffee. Be sure to stock up on coffee beans next time the Traveling Merchant is in town!
