Deputies at the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department’s Lancaster station are asking for the public’s help in identifying an alleged battery suspect.
The man is accused of punching a barista at a local coffee shop after being asked to put on a mask before entering the business.
The City of Lancaster is offering a $5,000 reward for information leading to the capture of the suspect.
“I am deeply saddened and angered by the assault.” Mayor R Rex Parris said. “Our nation is in a crisis, now is a time for our community to come together. This behavior is despicable and we need your help to help identify these men so that justice may be served.”
The suspect is described as a Black adult male, about six-feet-two-inches tall and weighing 230 pounds. He is wanted on suspicion of battery.
The man was with the other party at the coffee shop. He is described as a Black adult male, approximately six-feet-six-inches tall and weighing 245 pounds. Deputies want speak with him, since he is a witness to the alleged battery.
“Assaulting employees of any business is never acceptable,” a Lancaster Sheriff’s Station press release said. “Let’s do all we can to keep our local shops safe.”
