This year, everything is different due to the coronavirus pandemic. That includes Father’s Day. Here are some tips for celebrating in this strange year:
Here are tips to help you celebrate:
1. Get a great gift
Electronic gadgets, gift certificates, home improvement or gardening tools, and personal care items such are hair clippers are popular with gift givers this year. See “Tips for Father’s Day 2020” for more gift suggestions.
2. Schedule a virtual family event
Honor your father at a family gathering through Zoom, Skype, Facetime, or some other video communication program.
3. Check with your dad
See what he might like for a gift. Make a date for a special outing when the pandemic is over.
4. Say it with photos
Like many people, I love photos. Put together a collection of photos from throughout the years or fill a digital photo frame with your favorite photos.
5. Think green
Consider buying a green gift such as a reusable water bottle or a solar charger. See the Greenists’ “10 Green Gift Ideas for Father’s Day” for suggestions.
6. Make a basket
If your dad is a coffee lover, he’d enjoy a basket of Seattle’s best coffees. Wine, golf, microbrew beer, grilling, and fishing are other possible themes
7. Acknowledge your dad
Although my dad was a stern father, he made significant contributions to my life. It felt good to write about him on Father’s Day recently. See “A Tribute to My Dad on Father’s Day”for an example. Visit www.quotegarden’s “Quotations for Father’s Day” for ideas on what to include in a card you make or buy.
