Caring Plymouth woman transforms horse box into quirky coffee shack

A Plymouth woman has spent the last several weeks converting a horse box into a quirky coffee shack set to start slinging drinks and more from today.

Jasmine Dunn decided to take on an exciting new project because she wanted to do something new and exciting for herself, and it looks amazing.

Soon to be selling coffee and snacks from her newly-renovated horse trailer, Jasmine can’t wait to get started, and meet lots of new customers.

The converted trailer is called “Nelly’s Shack” and from today it will be situated and open in Stonehouse Street in Plymouth.

Nelly’s Shack will offer all sort of tasty treats such as barista coffee, bacon sandwiches, paninis, milkshakes, baguettes, cake, and more.

Jasmine has spent the last few months renovating the horse trailer, which has a quirky and rustic vibe, decorated with wood panelling, tiles, and kitted out with new coffee and grub-making equipment.

Jasmine said that she wanted to start something new that was just for her. She has been working with children with special needs for the last ten years, having previously worked at a school, and then a children’s home.

She said: “I wanted to do something that was a little bit for me, so I bought a mid-converted horse box and did some more renovating, so it’s now a fully-renovated trailer.

“I’m absolutely buzzing to get started, but I am a little bit nervous. I’m going from looking after children with special needs to this, so it’s a bit of a change.

“I’ll be using coffee from a local coffee company, so it’s not just any old coffee, it’s from Cornwall Tea and Coffee.”

Nelly’s Shack is not far from the Lord High Admiral and Rock Salt Brasserie, which have both reopened today under Stage Two of Boris Johnson’s lockdown roadmap.

In a post on her Facebook page, Jasmine said: “Here she is, my own little coffee shack, who ever knows me will know this has been a dream, and only a dream for so long!
