That’s Jay Ruskey of Frinj Coffee talking about his coffee company which he hopes will attract multitudes of coffee lovers. According to The Guardian, Mr. Ruskey may be able to profit on both ends of the coffee drinking process. Sales to coffee consumers and then sales of the spent coffee grounds to a Finnish company called Rens which has created running shoes made of recycled plastic bottles and used coffee beans. Rens claims it will be climate neutral in its production, packaging and transport. The company said the shoe, called Nomad, will be made from coffee waste and recycled bottles, while recycled polyester will be used to create the membrane to make the footwear waterproof.
The Guardian wrote that the latest launch indicates a growing trend for athletic wear made from recycled materials, alongside a growing consciousness of the importance and feasibility of more sustainable consumer products more broadly.
