Tips To Plan A Workation

Tips To Plan A Workation

As we enter the 7th month of working from home, what seemed like a dream work
situation initially, is getting rather monotonous now. We’re bored of working
out of our bedroom (read: bed), we miss the frothy office coffee, and
definitely miss the change in scenery travelling and going to the office
offered. Being cooped up inside our homes and working from the same corner
every day has taken a noticeable toll on our productivity and motivation. Not
to mention how isolation is affecting our mental health.

But now that the lockdown is getting lifted, you have the option to
travel to a safe destination and stay there for a while. You’re anyway not
working from the office so it wouldn’t matter much if it’s your home or a quiet
little cafe in the mountains. As long as work continues uninterrupted, it’s all
the same. This is what workation is all about and let us tell you how you can
plan it:

1) Pick A Feel Good

The destination is very important. Since you want a break from monotony,
it’s best to not pick another city or a metropolitan. Travel to a beach or
small hill station or an unexplored town in the state (hint: Kasauli, Alibaug,
Lavasa…) for that perfect break from the last seven months and a healthy dose
of rejuvenation. The only rule of thumb when picking a destination is to steer
clear of commercial and crowded tourist spots.

2) Make Sure You Stay Connected

The last seven months have pretty much just been about video calls and
that’s not going to change. If you are working, you’ll still need good internet
speeds and a reliable phone connection. Not every hotel will have Wi-Fi, so
don’t rely on that. You should carry a network that offers wide coverage and
data speeds fast enough to allow you to browse internet while you attend a
video call.  According to the latest report of  ©2020 Opensignal, Limited, a global standard on mobile network analysis, Airtel
offers the fastest download speed as well as the best video experience and
voice call experience in India. This means other participants won’t even know
the difference.

3) Pack Smartly and Functionally

Let’s not forget we need to work as well, so pack all work-related things
– we’re talking about your laptop, all the chargers, a power bank, and an
extension cord too to be on the safe side! Also carry a good pair of headphones
for all the video calls, and a book or Kindle for when you just want to sit by
the window and read. Believe us, the charm of working or reading next to a
window with a beautiful view is unparalleled. You deserve it!

4) Don’t Take The ‘Vacation’ Out Of

While the first half of the word says ‘work’, the second half says
‘vacation’ and that should not be forgotten. Take timely breaks, step out for a
stroll amidst the greens, visit local places and relish the local cuisine (make
sure of hygiene though), click some ‘gram-worthy shots and do everything you’d
want to do on vacation. After all we’re here to take a break, aren’t we?

5) Eat Healthy and
Exercise Regularly

The threat of COVID is still looming large outside and this especially is
not the time to take health lightly. So, always keep some healthy snacks and
fruits with you, so you don’t have to go out every time you feel hungry. If
you’re booking something like an Airbnb, you can even prepare one meal a day
yourself. Similarly, don’t forget to stretch and walk a little between work
sessions. All of this goes a long way in building immunity which is something
we all need right now.

So make a good plan, take all safety
precautions and have a great workation. Wherever you go, with Airtel, you can
stay connected and keep working.
